You'll realize I'M pretty new to this forum when it comes to writing topics (or posts, for that matter), but I've been here for quite some time reading around a lot, and, of course, watching speedruns. So, the other day I was playing Serious Sam HD: TFE, and I got the idea of making a speedrun. And because making a normal speedrun is quite usual, and has been done quite a few times (Heck, there is even a website dedicated to it), I decided to do something special. Single Segementing is out of reach, as Fraps takes 16GB for 4 Minutes, and WeGame just CTD's the game, so I came up with the idea of running it with all secrets found. I don't know if this could fit the 100% category, as I'm not killing all of the enemies, and that also shows up at the stats screen. Anyways, I already got the plans for the first two levels down, and a run of the first level recorded.
The first level is way longer due to the tree that is about five thousand miles out in the desert, but still is a secret; so my try at the first level clocks at 4:37. There are still a couple of seconds in it, I believe (since I'm new to speedrunning, and my execution is probably well under the one of the usual speedrunner), but I don't run this for perfection, furthermore for the fact that the planning and executing is fun. Long story short, would anyone of you be interested in seeing a Serious Sam: All secrets found speedrun, and would this fall under the 100% category? Also I hope this is the right place for this thread; if it belongs into the planning area: Mods, you are free to move it.
Edit: I just found out that my SSHD:TFE crashes while encoutering the last boss, so I would have to do it on the regular game. Another Edit: I just redid Hatshepsut on the original game, and you may guess three times what time it took. Yes, 4:37 again. I don't think I can do it much (if any) better. TL;DR: I plan SS:TFE All Secerts; You want?

Yes, 4:37 again. I don't think I can do it much (if any) better. TL;DR: I plan SS:TFE All Secerts; You want? Awesome, me want. I was already thinking of putting something like this up on SSDQ so perhaps I can host your run then It's only necessary to destroy the tree in Hatshepsut, right?
Equipped with automatic pitch detection and intuitive harmonizing controls, THE MOUTH provides an unlimited array of expressive and inspirational synthesizer, vocoder and talk box-style sounds and effects with a distinctive electronic character, offering new and original ways to enrich an audio signal or even turn it into something entirely different and unpredictable. THE MOUTH offers separate “Pitch” and “Beats” modes for tonal processing of all kinds of audio material, enabling anything from auto-tuning effects to unexpected chord structures and arpeggiated melodies. The input signal can be seamlessly mixed and replaced with the output from separate “Synth”, “Bass” and “Vocoder” sections, complemented by an additional “FX” path. The moth st paul. For flexible harmonization, musical scales can be either preselected or triggered in real time from a MIDI keyboard.
If yes you can shoot it from a long range as has been done in the TFE coop (Check www.ssdq.org for the demo). And yes 100% would require all kills as well, or rather as many kills that are possible to do You're not using demos to capture the run? Easy to use and you can Fraps the stuff afterwards. EDIT: Just checked the tree thing myself, it only spawns Harpies.
So yeah the long walking is necessary. EDIT: Just did a very relaxed All Secrets run through Hatshepsut in 4:36 EDIT: Just did Hatshepsut in 4:21. The order of secrets collecting was: Rocket Ammo - Rocket Launcher - Dual Pistol - Touching the door for Croteam dudes - Shooting the door for Croteam dudes (This one could be done after grabbing the heart, it doesn't really matter that much) - Heart - Double-Barreled Shotgun. EDIT: Heh, with savegames I got a 4:15 by having the red Biomechs destroy the door to the Croteam dudes. Would be quite luck manipulating to include, well, it succeeded somewhat easily but the long walking before it makes it a bit tiresome.

Without killing 'all' (possible) ennemies it wouldn't be counted as a 100% run. It shouldn't appear under the same name as the coop 100% attempted in the past. Still there could be some interest in watching this.
You run within any rules you decide and as long as these rules bring new problems it will force new route planification and maybe new tricks. All secrets seems to be a nice rule.
You will run with the HD version in the end or not? Are there still problems in the HD version with ennemies and secrets triggers? I think that Sam HD also bring more secrets, so more interest I guess you will run in tourist.
I'm not sure but I think there is a secret tower in the alley of the sphinx that can only be reached in tourist mode (or I have never learnt how to reach it if not). Without killing 'all' (possible) ennemies it wouldn't be counted as a 100% run.

I will not run this in the HD version because the game crashes at the beginning of the final boss encounter. I will run this with the version found in the gold edition, without further patches, then. Also I did not consider the demo feature at first because, I believe, that there is no demo function in the HD game. So I'll probably use demos if I get the hang of it. Also my Plan for Hatshepsut is doing the right side first (RL+2nd Pistol), then get the Rockets at the left side, then free the fans, shoot a short rocket to the devs, and make my way to the tree.
While finishing the level I'm getting my DB-Shotgun. I'll try Void's route to see if it's actually faster for me. Also, I'll run this in tourist.

As I said there are many extra secrets compared to the old version (If the gold version isn't anything new). My experience with this game isn't that great since it doesn't run well enough on my laptop.
Old Demos
This and Sam being slower and jumping lower (makes dodging harder) got me away from it. But I really think this is the best choice to try your run.
The boss crash isn't that big a problem. If really there will never be a way for you to run it, I'm sure someone will help to complete. But more important, you don't resolve the problem by running the old versions: there was no secret in the last level so it's basically the same run that has been done on ssdq.
Isn't it easier to open the devs on your way back from the tree? Your route seems correct anyway. If you have a decent way to record it please stick to the HD version. He said he started with HD anyway so I was just pointing out the fact that HD would be more interesting if you want to run within these rules I assume here also that 'gold version' and 'Vanilla TFE' are just the old games as I play them.
I know there has been an xbox version also and I'm not sure if extra secrets were added in any of these. I agree that they are completely different games. I wouldn't trade my old versions for the HD ones. Didn't want to force anything actually (sorry if my intention was misunderstood).

I wouldn't trade my old versions for the HD ones. I'd like to run it on the HD version for myself, but the game won't let me do it, as it crashes while encountering the final boss (I've tried it about a dozen of times), and I don't think there's a fix for it (that is not available on steam, if you get where I got the game from), so it'll be the vanilla TFE then. Maybe, if I have finished both encounters, I'll try to redo it on the HD game, but that is in the future, as of now.
Also, I don't own the XboX version of the game. Also I attached a demo of a hatchepsut run, clocking at 4:35. Please share any execution/improvement tips you have. I know that jump down to the fans was sloppy, and is probably faster if I land on the edge there. Also the door can be touched faster. If you have any other tips, please share.

Missed a secret on first attempt. I got 4:18 and don't feel like perfecting it. TheVoid route is definitely the fastest. I tried to open croteam after the heart but I never got any better time than his. The fact that it's the first level, with a cutscene that is counted in the time, is pretty annoying. You have to load the game from the menu, press esc, record demo and hammer left click until you join netrisca (which doesn't count in the total time).
Also the possible improvement to this run is concerning the tree. Just shoot it from quite far with rockets. The reason is that it triggers harpies (it's a second secret I believe in HD) and they will provide more reliable boosts than the biomechs (half of their shots slow you down ) if they are close enough to you. Use rockets to control the number of harpies around when attempting crucial parts but alot would probably die from biomechs. Pistol should be picked at early 0:39 if you cut the corners and jump correctly (0:38 might exist). Missed a secret on first attempt.
